General FAQs
1. What are the advantages of purchasing a website template?
The major advantage is price: You get a high quality design for just $20-$70. You don’t have to hire a web designer or web design studio. Second advantage is time frame: It usually takes 5-15 days for a good designer to produce a web page of such quality.
2. Do you provide any scripts with your templates or could you do some custom programming?
Our templates do not include any additional scripts. All forms such as newsletter subscription or search fields are inactive. Basic scripts can be easily added at Template Tuning.
3. What do I receive when I order a template?
After you complete the payment via our secure form you will receive a confirmation email with link(s) to download .zip(s). The .zip file(s) contain the following: PSD file(s), HTML file(s), fonts and advanced clipart library.
You will need unzipping software to open the .zip archive. Windows users may use 7-Zip, PowerArchiver, or WinZip. Mac users may use StuffIt.
4. What is a clipart library?
It is a selection of elements that may be helpful during creation of websites using our templates.
Elements included (quantity is approximate):
- Arrows: 25 items
- Bullets: 10 items
- Buttons: 15 items
- Icons: 15 items
- Logos: 25 items
- Windows for content (ie. News box. etc.): 3 items
- Other elements: 100 items
All these elements are provided in Photoshop .psd files in external layers. This makes it easier to insert clipart library images into your designs based on our website templates.
5. In what formats are your templates available?
Website templates are available in Photoshop and HTML formats. Fonts are included with Photoshop file. In most templates HTML is compatible with Adobe® GoLive®, Adobe Dreamweaver® and Microsoft Frontpage®.
6. What am I allowed and not allowed to do with the templates?
You may:
- Build a website using the template in any way you like.
You may not:
- Resell or redistribute templates.
- Claim intellectual or exclusive ownership to any of our products, modified or unmodified. All products are property of content providing companies and individuals.
- Make more than one project using the same template (you have to purchase the same template once more in order to make another project with the same design)
7. What is the difference between unique and non-unique purchase?
- Non-unique purchase: Non-exclusive purchase means that other people can buy the template you have chosen some time later.
- Unique purchase: Exclusive purchase guarantees that you are the last person to buy this template. After an exclusive purchase occurs the template is being permanently removed from the sales directory and will never be available to other customers again. Only you and people who bought the template before you will own it.
8. If I buy a template at the exclusive price does this allow me to resell that template unlimited times?
No. Please see our Terms and Conditions to find out more about usage rights. If you’d like to sell templates to your customers, please join our Affiliate Program.
9. Is it reasonable to make unique purchase of template that was already purchased before?
Yes. Because there is very small chance that you will find the same design on the net. There are more than three billion webpages online now according to Google.
10. Is the license a one-time fee payment?
Yes, the payment for your template is a one-time fee without any additional charges. After purchasing you may use the template as many times as you need for one website.
11. Is it possible to buy the particular image from the template?
No. According to our Terms and Conditions we never sell the images separately from templates (as well as the templates separately from the images).
12. Is it possible for me to pay one price and have access to all downloads for a certain amount of time?
Sorry, we do not provide membership based services. See our information about ‘No Membership Guaranteed.’
13. I would like to make payment by company check. Is that possible?
Please use MoneyBookers payment option. They accept payments by check.
14. Is there any return policy?
Since we are offering non-tangible irrevocable goods we do not issue refunds after the product is shipped, which you are responsible for understanding upon purchasing any article at our site. Please make sure that you’ve carefully read ’sources available’ section. We only make exceptions with this rule when the product appears to be not-as-described on a case by case basis in agreement of the parties concerned. The deadline for any refund claim is one week after the delivery date.
15. I ordered a template but haven’t received the download information.
In this case please contact our Billing Department via our live support chat or e-mail.
16. I was billed twice – I received 2 email from merchant.
Make sure that these charges have different order IDs. If it is so, contact our billing department.
17. Is it possible to reactivate my download link if it was deactivated after 3 days?
Yes. Please contact our billing department and they will reactivate your link.
18. I would like to purchase a template, but it is not available on the site anymore.
The template has been sold out for exclusive price. Look for similar templates in our collection.
19. How can I modify a template to suit my particular website?
Please visit our Online Knowledge Base to obtain detailed instructions on editing.
20. Are your templates Microsoft FrontPage compatible?
Most of templates come with HTML that is compatible with Adobe GoLive, Adobe Dreamweaver and Microsoft Frontpage. Please check the ’sources available’ field in the template preview window.
NOTE: We do not provide Adobe Dreamweaver .DWT files, Adobe GoLive .SITE files nor Microsoft Frontpage Extensions.
21. What is Adobe Photoshop?
Adobe Photoshop is the world’s most popular graphics editing package. You can find more info about Photoshop and download a free trial version at Adobe website.
22. What software do you recommend for making HTML?
We think that Adobe Dreamweaver is the best.
23. How can I modify flash portion of the template?
You need to use Adobe Flash to edit animated part of the template.
24. When I try to open the flash fla file, I get an error Unexpected file format.
This means that .fla file is incompatible with your Flash version. Please install Flash MX2004 or Flash 8 (check the software requirements to the template) to edit this file.
25. Can I edit flash template in Swish?
No. Our flash templates can be edited in Adobe Flash only.
26. Can I change the pictures on the flash animated website and put my own pictures instead?
Yes, you can.
27. What is the best place to find photos/images for modification of my template?
We recommend you to purchase images from Getty Images.
28. I was wondering if you could give me the contact info for a particular designer?
Sorry, our corporate policy prohibits direct contacts with contractually obliged designers.
29. Is it possible to use your templates to develop websites for my customers?
Yes. It is perfect for designers who want to offer their customers a high-quality design and also save time and money. Mind that when you purchase the template with oridnary or exclusive licence you’re entitled to create only one project (one domain name).
30. Can I put low resolution thumbnails of templates on my website for my clients to choose designs?
Yes, of course.
31. Are the bonuses included with the package?
You only get a clipart library and fonts collection together with the package. All other bonuses are given in form of memberships. You need to browse the collections to download the items.
32. Will Simplicity Point help me edit my template?
We offer you a variety of sources to help you with your template. You may use our comprehensive Online Knowledge Base to get the basic knowledge about your template. The Web Design Library provides diverse, informed learning experiences and will help you with your template stuff. Also, you can always try our Ticket System or Live Support Chat to get qualified assistance from our support representatives.
33. Will Simplicity Point help me to install my template?
Some of our products like osCommerce templates, Zen Cart templates, etc. require installation to operate. Installation services are not included in the package price. We do, however, offer you a variety of sources to help you with installation of your template, including installation instructions. Our Online Knowledgebase contains customer questions and most frequent problems. In addition, you can always refer to our partners from Template Tuning to install your template for you for a small fee.
34. Do you provide Adobe Dreamweaver .DWT files, Adobe GoLive .SITE files or Microsoft Frontpage Extensions?
No. We provide you only plain HTML files.
35. Are your templates compatible with any CMS?
We do not guarantee compatibility with any CMS. The only exception is PHP-Nuke Themes. They are 100% compatible with PHP-Nuke.
36. Is it possible that Template Monster will contact my client which website I made from Template Monster’s website template?
Yes, Template Monster’s legal department checks licenses regularly. In case we won’t find designer’s contact information on the site which was made from the template of ours we will contact the owner of the site directly.
One Time Usage License
1. What is a one time usage license?
When you buy the template at usual price you automatically get the one time usage license. It enables you to use each individual product on a single website only, belonging to either you or your client. You have to purchase the same template again if you to use the same design in connection with another or other projects. When passing files to your client please detele the template files from your computer.
2. Can I resell the template as is?
No, you can not resell the template as is. If you’d like to sell templates to your customers, please join our Affiliate Program.
3. Can I customize the template?
Yes, you can customize the template to any extent needed. You can not use a header of the template for one project though, and images from the template for the other project.
4. Can I resell the customized template?
No, you can not resell the customized template as a template but you may sell it as a project to your client.
5. Are there any restrictions for using imagery, cliparts and fonts from the template I purchased?
All imagery, clipart and fonts used in our products are royalty-free and are the integral part of our products. One Time Usage License and Developers License give you the right to use images, clipart and fonts only as a part of the website you build using your template. You can use imagery, clipart and fonts to develop one project only. Any kind of separate usage or distribution is strictly prohibited.
6. I have customized the template and would like to protect my content by copyright, can I place Copyright 2008, Mycompanyname.com?
Yes, you can add your copyright to to protect your content.
7. Can I use graphics from the template we purchased for use in printing?
Yes, it’s not prohibited to use the template graphics for printed material but the resolution of the templates graphics ( except for logo templates) is not enough for printing. All the templates are designed for 72 dpi resolution while the printing requires 300 dpi resolution.
8. Can I get the template in higher resolution to use for printing?
No, our templates are optimized for web resolution only.
9. I like the image from the template and would like to use it for my advertising campaign, can you send me this image in resolution higher than 72 dpi?
No, we can’t provide image in higher size or resolution rather than it is on the template. We recommend looking for professional images on online photo resources.
10. Can I use the logo to design corporate identity?
Yes, you can use logo to design corporate identity, but you can use it for one company only.
Buyout Purchase License FAQ
1. What is a buyout purchase license?
When you buy the template at unique price you automatically get the buyout purchase license. This means that you are the last person to buy the template. The template is deleted from our database and is no longer available for sale. The buyout purchase license allows you to develop the unlimited number of projects based on this template, but the template should be customized differently for every project.
2. Can I resell the template as is?
No, you can not resell the template as is. If you’d like to sell templates to your customers, please join our Affiliate Program.
3. Can I put a line at the bottom ( or any other spot) of the customized project “Website design by Company name”?
No, you can not place a line at the bottom ( or any other spot)of the customized project saying “Website design by Company name”. Nevertheless, you can place “Customized by Company name”.
Developers License FAQ
1. What is Developers License?
The developers license is a website design solution for software companies, sitebuilders and any other businesses working with CMS, software, freeware and applications (excluding those that are the part of the product offered by TemplateMonster). For example, a company produces some kind of an application that is selling very well but there is no website design to integrate with this application. Developers license allows to buy our templates at half of their unique price and integrate with the application (CMS, software, freeware, sitebuilder) thus creating a «new» product. This new products is the property of the company that developed the product at thus the company gains the full rights to distribute the product based on the company’s policy and terms of use. The developers license in no way means the reselling of TemplateMonster templates.
2. What is the price for acquiring the developers license?
There is no a set price for acquiring the developers license. The price forms based on the template’s unique price for those templates you would like to use for the integration. The price for purchasing license for a single template is half of the template unique price.
3. Are there any discounts if I’m buying over 10, 20, 30 or more templates?

4. Can I get the developers license for some other pricing than the half of the initial template price?
No. The price for purchasing license for a single template is the half of the template unique price.
5. Can I resell the templates I bought the developers license for?
No, you can not resell the templates as is. You can only sell them as the integral part of your new product.
6. Are there any limitations on selling the new product?
No, there are no limitations on our side. The new products is the property of the company that developed it at thus the company gains the full rights to distribute the product based on the company policy and terms of use.
7. Will the template be deleted from the database?
No, the template will not be deleted from the database.
8. Can I integrate the template with Oscommerce or other freeware products for development of my new products?
No, you can not get the developers license for development of such products.
9. How many applications, programs etc can I use to integrate with the templates under one developers license?
The developers license gives you the right to use the purchased templates for the integration with one software/freeware/application/CMS/sitebuilder only. In case you would like to use the template with the other application, the other license is to be acquired.
10. Can I customize the template if that’s required by application settings?
Yes, you can customize the template code, graphics, fonts to any extent needed.
11. Can I put a line at the bottom (or any other spot) of my new product «Website development by Company name»?
Yes, you can place a note at the bottom or any other spot) of my product «Website development by Company name». Nevertheless, you can not place «Website design by Company name».
12. In what cases I don’t need need the developers license?
In case you would like to customize our templates for your customers, you don’t need any license since your customer will be the final owner of the template files. The only thing you should keep in mind is when you start on the projects based on the same template, you have to purchase this template over again for every project it is used for. If you would like to display templates on your website to show them to your customers, please join our Affiliate Program.
Refund Policy
Since we are offering non-tangible irrevocable goods we do not issue refunds once the order is accomplished and the product is sent. As a customer you are responsible for understanding this upon purchasing any item at our site. Please note that our bonuses are offered on behalf of our respected partners and are not an issue for a refund or chargeback.
However, we realize that exceptional circumstance can take place with regard to the character of the product we supply.
Therefore, we DO honor requests for the refund on the following reasons:
- Non-delivery of the product: due to some mailing issues of your e-mail provider or your own mail server you might not receive a delivery e-mail from us. In this case we recommend contacting us for assistance. Claims for non-delivery must be submitted to our Billing department in writing within 7 days from the order placing date. Otherwise the product will be considered received and downloaded.
- Download and unzipping issues: it may happen so that you are having problems while downloading the product or its unzipping. Claims regarding such issues must be submitted to our Technical Support department. If you do not properly contact us during this period, you agree that we may construe silence as a successful download of the product with no further right of redress or refund for a “download issue” reason. Failure to receive assistance for downloading or unzipping within 3 days may result in a refund decline.
- Major defects: although all the products are thoroughly tested before release, unexpected errors may occur. Such issues must be submitted for our Technical Support Team’s approval. We keep the right to rectify the error or defect within 72 hours. If any deficiency is approved and we fail to correct it within 72 hours from the date of the initial complaint letter or any other notification provided by a Customer, the refund will be issued to the customer in full without any compensations or reimbursements. OR, at customer’s choice, replacement of the product of the same or around the same value can be offered.
- Product not-as-described: such issues should be reported to our Technical Support Department within 7 days from the date of the purchase. Clear evidence must be provided proving that the purchased product is not as it is described on the website. Complaints which are based merely on the customer’s false expectations or wishes are not honored. Sample products are available for evaluation purpose at our free sample templates section.
Please note that we do not bear any responsibility and therefore we do not satisfy any refund/return/exchange requests based on incompatibility of our products with some third-party software (plug-ins, add-ons, modules, search engines, scripts, extensions etc) other than those which are specified as compatible in a description available on the preview page of each product. We don’t guarantee that our products are fully compatible with any third-party programs and we do not provide support for third-party applications.
Requests for a refund are accepted within the period of one week after the order is placed. You should accompany this request with detailed and grounded reasons why you apply for a refund. Please make sure your request does not contradict our Terms and Conditions. Please give 12-24 hours for our Support Team to get back to you on the problem.
A refund is issued to you upon receipt of a Waiver of Copyright signed by you.
